Online users are shared a video in October 2024 claiming the clip showed a woman holding a giant, white rabbit. The woman appears to be standing in a room filled with cardboard boxes.
For example, on Oct. 17, X user @Catshealdeprsn posted (archived) the video with the caption, "Giant rabbit."
Other users also posted the same video on Facebook, Threads, X and YouTube. One user on Threads posted a caption in Arabic that translated to, "A rabbit was raised with the best care at home and became one of the family members of the house."
However, the truth was the video originated from a user who used artificial-intelligence (AI) tools.
Self-described professional AI trainer and digital artist Jyo John Mulloor posted the video on Facebook and Instagram on Oct. 14. As of Oct. 17, the Facebook version received over 477,000 views, while the Instagram post displayed 17.7 million views.
The caption revealed more about the creation of the video showing the giant bunny, namely that Mulloor used the generative AI platforms Midjourney and Kling AI. It read, "Congrats, Nicole! Your magical giant rabbit that speaks like a human is absolutely amazing!"
While some of the top comments mentioned the video's AI origins, other users appeared to be unsure if the clip was genuine or fake. For example, one user asked, "Is he real???" That comment alone received over 300 likes. Another user said in jest, "Stop feeding the Cadbury bunny."
We reached out to Mulloor to ask about his AI creations and will update this story if we receive a response.
Newborn Unicorns and Giant Owls
While Mulloor's video of the giant rabbit achieved nearly 18 million views, that count was quite small compared to other clips he previously posted, namely the three he pinned to the top of his feed.
For example, on Sept. 28, he posted a video of a young girl holding a unicorn with wings (archived). The caption once again mentioned both Midjourney and Kling AI, adding, "After a long wait, we finally picked up our little one from DHL yesterday! Welcome home, magical baby!" The clip received over 320 million views.
In another unicorn-inspired video posted on Oct. 5 (archived), Mulloor shared a brief clip appearing to show baby unicorns. The caption mentioned Midjourney and Kling AI, and added, "Welcome to the world, newborn babies! Our farm is blessed with 16 new little ones, some of them with single horns too." The video received more than 75 million views.
On the following day, Oct. 6, he posted a video showing a woman holding a giant owl (archived). He once again named the same generative AI tools, and said, "Congrats, Jenny! Your magical owl that speaks like a human is absolutely amazing!"
